Large scale genuine Indian Citizens belonging to Religious and Linguistics Minority Communities are dropped from the Final Draft of the NRC published on 30 July, 2018.

What is NRC ?
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) contains names of Indian citizens of Assam. The NRC was prepared in 1951, after 1951 Census of India.
The NRC Updation of 2014–2016 across Assam includes the names of those persons (or their descendants) who appear in the NRC 1951, or in any of the Electoral Rolls up to the midnight of 24 March 1971 or in any one of the other admissible documents issued up to the midnight of 24 March 1971, which would prove their presence in Assam on or before 24 March 1971. The NRC (1951) and the Electoral Rolls up to the midnight of 24 March 1971 together are collectively called Legacy Data.
Whats are the Reasons for Dropped from Final Draft NRC :
1. Terming weak documents, certificate from any private institutions, Birth Certificate if not produced issued within 1 year of the Birth from the authority are dropped from the final Draft list.
2. Descendants of arbitrarily declared D Voters born after 2004 where excluded.
3. Brother and sister of declared foreigners and entranced foreigners were dropped.
4. D voters cases pending in the tribunals since 1983 to till date were dropped.
5. Brother and sisters of declared foreigners about 43,822 upto 28/05/2018 were dropped although they were genuine Indian citizen at the time of filling of NRC application. On the other hand some of D voters declared as an Indian Citizens who are also excluded.
6. Linkage Certificate of many of the married women and illiterate girls were dropped from NRC.
7. In the name of family tree poor illiterate people, due to ignorance wrongly put the legacy data were used are left out from the draft NRC.
8. Moreover due to lack of sufficient times some poor and illiterate people wrongly submitted application.
9. In some places many people failed to submit the application due to non availability of legacy data.
10. Government failed to proved copy of NRC 1951 and general Election wise all Electoral Roll up to 1971 in all Districts and NSK’s for which large No. of people could not prove their Legacy.
11. Spelling Mistake, miss-match relevant government documents led a large section of illiterate people were dropped from Final Draft NRC.
12. Initially declared 16 modalities to prove one’s citizenship were not maintained properly and some additional modalities were incorporated causing deprivation of genuine Indian citizens to prove their citizenship.
13. Legacy Data provided from other states were not taken into consideration
After completion of the Disposal of Claims and Objections, final registers at various levels, namely, Local Register of Citizens (LRC), Circle Register of Citizens (CRC), and the District Register of Citizens (DRC) will then be published as Final Updated SRC (NRC for the state).
